I think that lets Jack know he and her don't have to be the same.Naty2oonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139769202527811820.post-81810999957307206492011-07-20T14:03:10.495-07:002011-07-20T14:03:10.495-07:00@Uniflame I think I blocked that out. Then he decides to cut it.

Great analysis. :) Just saw link at #litchat.Maureen McGowanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00494408580378817045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139769202527811820.post-29206901357198632002011-07-18T09:40:37.899-07:002011-07-18T09:40:37.899-07:00Wow I love your review. Only it took me a bit to figure out what "to have some" meant. The thing that grossed me out a bit was that Jack saved his mothers Bad Tooth and put the rotten tooth into his own mouth at times. It made me a bit sick.Uniflamehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08181945318301274101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139769202527811820.post-81360517852238187492011-07-18T05:52:29.211-07:002011-07-18T05:52:29.211-07:00@Christine It makes so much more sense since you p...@Christine It makes so much more sense since you put it that way. Though that's quite creepy on its own that she was fashioning Jack to be her lost daughter.

@Tiffany I was also sad when this book was over. In many ways, I found World to be as creepy as Room.

@Rachel that was an odd detail that felt very true to life. I guess I can understand people who didn't like the second half as it's definitely a complete tonal shift from the first, but that doesn't mean I agree with them!theoncominghopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471519506797609837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139769202527811820.post-1157906590443885612011-07-18T02:05:12.163-07:002011-07-18T02:05:12.163-07:00Great review! I can see that happening in real life.

I think Donoghue did a great job in the second part of the novel gauging every possible reaction to Ma and Jack in the aftermath. I still can't understand why people have criticised it.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18019246507725693841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139769202527811820.post-69926281279614093732011-07-17T17:44:39.320-07:002011-07-17T17:44:39.320-07:00I agree that he is referred to as a little girl be...I agree that he is referred to as a little girl because of his long hair and little children at 5 all look pretty androgynous, especially if their hair is long. I think when he's a teen he'll have a lot more issues - I was so sad when this book was over, I wanted to know what would happen to them! I would definitely read a sequel or two. . .Tiffanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02694173287564791216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139769202527811820.post-730233163189007592011-07-17T16:17:35.296-07:002011-07-17T16:17:35.296-07:00How d'you mean, about waiting for the shoe to ...How d'you mean, about waiting for the shoe to drop? Presumably it's his long hair that confuses people, until he himself chops it off near the end? I thought it was one of the most telling things in the novel that he should have hair as long as Ma's!Christine McIntoshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14198224025775398453noreply@blogger.com
